‘Tis the Season to Eat, Drink, and Be Merry!
Growing up my grandmother and my mom spent Christmas morning preparing a breakfast spread that rivaled our Thanksgiving feast. As we got older, it was our turn to prepare the Christmas breakfast. As our family expanded from five to as many as twenty (husbands, children, and extended family members), breakfast preparation could be overwhelming so, we searched for easy plan-ahead recipes that allowed us to stay true to our Southern roots and spend less time in the kitchen. If your family is like mine, these quick and easy, prepare-ahead delights will make your Christmas morning “Merry & Bright”.
I am so happy to share with you some of my favorites:
Kick your morning off with this refreshing Christmas Morning Punch. It has plenty of vitamin C and the sparkle of Ginger Ale adds a NICE touch. If you want to kick it up a notch, add your favorite Christmas “spirit” and be a little NAUGHTY.
Fully Loaded Breakfast Casserole
This treat will certainly satisfy any hungry appetite and is ideally made ahead of time. It includes most of your breakfast favorites so all you need to add is a bowl of grits and side of biscuits for a complete meal. We use Jimmy Dean sausage and Smithfield bacon but use whatever products are sold in your area. This breakfast casserole will make your tummy say: “HO HO HO”.
No Christmas breakfast is complete without a Sweet Treat. This ooey, gooey delight will have children and adults “Shouting with Glee”.
